Default Pre-order requirements

Well, I think enough time has passed that pre-order items provide 0 advantage at any point in the game. Really though, the point is that at no point (post-beta) have they provided any real benefit; see my point?

The original stated purpose of pre-order items was to give those in possession of them a bit of a leg-up to start with. But the requirements on these things are higher than even the top-end collectors items; with the stats worse, much worse. Take a look at the Ithas Bow; requires 10 markmanship for 13-25 damage...2 less damage on both the low and the high but requirements are higher than a max damage collector bow; not to mention the lack of even the 20% customization bonus?

I'm not going to drag up all the debates that sparked on release about the level required to make full use of these things. What I would like to see is people be able to put these items to some use rather than click them over the trash bin forever. Lower the reqs to bring them in line with available collector items of equal power. Ithas Bow should be at 6 or 7 marksmanship; same for the tactics req on the Targe. Bring the secondary reqs down that they're useable in all but the extreme builds. These are nice items with unique looks; it'd be nice if we the pre-orderers were finally able to make good use of them.

Um, signed or whatever you do.

Chimeric Prism.

Good stuff already.

Haven't really used any other Pre-order item apart from the prism and War Pick. Wouldn't mind War Pick being max damage.

I didn't preorder for an Ithas Bow I'll never use.
Lower the req to 6, make it max dmg.
I wasn't a beta tester for Guild Wars to be given a useless item upon release.

If they are going to fix preorder items then they would also have to fix the "Divine Aura" so that it actually does what it states on the box. Which is: "Each character you create manifests the gods' favor with a glowing aura, visible to all" (which is a description that led buyers to believe they would have the boss glow on them at all times, not some lame sparks around their hands during emotes only).

To fix one but not the other would be grossly unfair.

/signed for fixing both.

Well, I have both and am fine with the glow as-is. I'd like to play the upcoming assassin class and I just don't see neon glows as particularly stealthy.

I agree on the prism though; but it's hard to compare that with other things, and the req on it isn't all that high to begin with.

I have to agree with this point. I think Anet put the high reqs on the stuff to prevent beta players having the immediate advantage over newbs in PvP, but that's kind of missing the point in being part of the pre-release events and getting in ahead of everyone else, isn't it? I collected all the pre-orders available in the US (still waiting to get the prism), and would like to be able to use these items for some personal customizing for my characters without having to sacrifice armor and weapon power. Isn't that what the high level armor is for? Character customizing? Why should the long-time players be able to custimize with that armor and not the pre-order stuff as well?

Yea, I just don't get that; the lack of 20% bonus is just bizarro.

Wow, I'm glad I didn't bother with this crap (although people still ask me how I get my hands to glow.... that's pretty cool).

If GW does something similar in Chapter 2, it better be useful.

I can understand not making it any better than an in-game item - that's cool - but I agree - having higher reqs than the collector bows for lower damage really isn't very fun. Make them req 8 or 7, max damage, since they don't even have a +15% in stance/enchanted/>50% mod for damage. They're just weak - if they were usable with a little less requirement, maybe. That or increase them to collector's level.

Sure, they look cool, and if my Ithas bow were a +15% in stance, req 9, max damage flatbow for instance it wouldn't beat anything in game, it'd be like the collector version bow - that I'd use, and happily. The conditional +5 armour is cute, but a 10 requirement for it?

Agreed that they are the least useful gear out there. Europe at least got a useable focus - the Ithas bow is crap.

For the future: Anet - at least make the pre-order items comparable to high end collectable gear. It doesn't really grant any advantage that way, just a different skin, but at least we'd bother using it. The only time I ever use my Ithas bow is if I am somewhere and need to pull something, and don't have a bow in my pack - I can type /preorder, pull the target then throw out the bow again. Woohoo! So useful!

More's the pain that the old Denravi crafted bow had +10 armor and only a single req of 9 marks; I think even the damage was equivelant, even if I can't spell it.
